Warning: To avoid damage to your system, make sure the lamp(s) are seated firmly in their endcap(s). Any lamp not fully pushed into their endcap can result in an ARC, potentially causing damage/failure to your system. If you are not sure how to properly install the lamp, please call us toll free at 866-969-7333 or 866-WOW-REEF. Damage caused by an arc is not covered under warranty.
* Caution: This ballast kit must be housed in an area free of moisture, behind glass or acrylic. Make sure the bulb(s) and socket(s) are sealed off from any moisture, humidity or evaporation of your aquarium. Failure to do so will void any and all warranty, and could be a potential hazard.
Ballast Measurements
* Ballast Dimensions: 11 3/4"L x 3"W x 1 7/8"H.
* Powercord length approx: 6'.
* Length of endcap cord from ballast approx: 11' 6".
* There are two 1/4" mounting holes on each end of the ballast so you can conveniently mount the ballast where you choose.
* Do not mount this unit near any heat or humidity. Avoid placing it above the lights (high heat area) or anywhere near open water (i.e. sumps, wet-dry filters, refugiums, etc.).
***FAQ:
Q. Will the clips that come with this work on the new Quad lamp?
A. You will have to let us know if you intend to use this ballast kit with a Quad style bulb. The clips that come standard with this will not work on the Quad design. Be sure to let us know, we'd be happy to give you the correct ones.
Q. Do you have a dual 96W CF ballast kit?
A. Yes. This is now available here.
To avoid problems with CF bulbs & ballasts, we recommend:
1) Mount electronic ballasts as far away from heat sources as possible (this would include bulbs as a heat source).
2) Do not mount ballasts in any high humidity areas (ie. above sump, etc).
3) Avoid unnecessarily removing Compact Fluorescent bulbs once they are in place. Glass bulbs are fragile, so take care when handling them.
4) Make sure they are pushed all the way into their sockets.
5) Replace them every 12-14 months.
6) Mount behind glass or acrylic 3-6" above the water. Do NOT operate any bulb directly over exposed water!
7) Securely mount all endcap cords, as loose cords can be pulled on accidentally, resulting in bulb breakage.
8) Most photo periods are between 8-12 hours, depending on specimen needs.
