Do Your Bulbs Need to be Replaced?
Over time, the color temperature and output of your bulb will change due to its age. It may not be visible to the human eye, but the photosynthetic organisms within your aquarium may have an adverse reaction to this change.
Living in your corals is a type of algae called zooxanthellae. As this alga grows, it produces enough food to not only feed itself, but the coral as well. In order for this alga to grow, it requires the proper spectrum of light as well as a proper intensity.
We recommend that you change you bulbs regularly to prevent any shock associated with the change in output, and to ensure that all of your photosynthetic organisms get the proper spectrum and intensity that they require.
If you have any questions regarding your bulbs, or aquarium lighting in general, feel free to give us a call. Our expert customer service staff will be glad to help you out.
